Did you know that the leaves of a lemon tree make a yummy herbal tea?
This weekend I went to an herbal medicine class taught by Darren Huckle. The best part about the class was Darren’s attitude. His enthusiasm about plants and the earth and taking care of our bodies is contagious. He is so excited about each plant that I found myself biting into the most bitter things–like artichoke leaves (so bitter!)–and feeling excited about them. He loves plants and herbs so much that he even poured some of his herbal tea on his head (to show us YES! you can bathe in herbs–of course!).
I learned about lemon leaf tea and much more. Here are just a few things I discovered:
1) Enthusiasm makes everything more fun.
2) Enthusiasm is contagious.
3) If you want to inspire others all you have to do is share your enthusiasm.
4) Being enthusiastic is easy. All you have to do is follow your bliss. Cultivate that part of yourself that gets excited by things.
5) Doors open and opportunities arise when you share your enthusiasm with others.
What excites and delights you?
I get super excited about wild edible plants. I think the fact that they grow abundantly in nature and I didn’t have to do anything makes them especially appealing and even magical to me. They debunk my old belief that the only way to get something done was to do it myself. Ha!
I adore purslane (a weed) that grows in the yard.
I am excited about things that are free.
I love finding things to eat by stepping right outside my door.
I enjoy in working with nature to heal myself and others.
I delight in scents and smells: like citrus blossoms, or cinnamon or pine.
and right now, I’m excited about this yummy lemon leaf tea that I’m sipping while I type.
