One of my favorite exercises that I share with Boot Camp clients is called a List of Loves. It’s as simple as it sounds–it’s a long list of things that you love.
A “List of Loves” is powerful because
Paying attention to things that you love feels good. It can remind you that life is fun. It makes you a magnet for more of what you love (read Ask and It is Given for more details on this). It gets you unstuck when you get caught in a rut. It isn’t about doing, it’s about BEING. Remembering things you love helps you lighten up, be inspired and feel invigorated and energized.
Use your list of loves regularly…
1) as a vital self-care treatment list.
next time you feel burdened, uninspired, stressed, anxious or bored take a look at the list and give yourself something from it.
2) to help you remember who you are
3) as inspiration for artist dates
use your list as a guideline for ideas and encouragement next time you take yourself out on an artist date
Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients
- Journal or blank paper and a pen
- 10 minutes
- A timer or clock
Instructions
Set the timer for 10 minutes. Ask yourself, What do I love? What makes my heart sing? Puppy kisses, sprinkled cinnamon, mud squishing between my toes, crisp table linens…Keep writing until the timer goes off.
Before you begin, here’s a treat for you to watch on You Tube: My Favorite Things, Julie Andrews
