Ideas and Inspiration: Sample Artist Dates

Artist Dates are mini adventures that I often prescribe to clients for homework. Click here for a background on Artist Dates (from Julia Cameron’s book, The Artist Way) .

What is an artist date? An artist date is sacred YOU time. It’s a precious way to feed the well and become inspired. It’s essentially an hour just for yourself once a week– a date, an adventure, a treasure hunt, a place to explore or a time to be still and daydream. The artist date is something different from your normal routine. It could be a trip to a flea market or museum. Maybe it’s a visit to a craft store or a second-hand bookstore.

I’ve created this post so we can share ideas for fun artist dates and inspire each other, particularly on those weeks when you don’t feel terribly inspired. Whether or not you’ve actually taken an artist date doesn’t matter. Please comment below and tell us what you have done or might want to do for this juicy time to feed your spirit.

A few things I’ve enjoyed on my artist dates:

gone to an art or craft fair
stopped at garage sales or flea markets
a trip to a local farm
a stroll through a neighborhood I’ve never been in before
sitting under a tree in a park and watching people walk by
meandering through an antique or vintage store

What are your ideas or experiences?
Can’t wait to hear from you!
